Paruppu Thogayal (Lentil chutney) and awards

My husband likes this a lot. This tastes great with milagu rasam or milagu kozhambu.
We can say, it's the south indian Hummus, although i haven't tried it with Pita bread ;-)

Ingredients :

Toor daal - 1 cup
Black peppercorn - 1/2 spoon (increase if you want it really spicy)
Salt to taste
Hing - a pinch

Method :

Heat little oil and add the toor dal, pepper and hing and fry till the daal is golden brown.
Remove it from the stove and add some water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Add salt to taste and grind it.

My fil gave me this tip to soak it in water for few minutes before grinding to get a creamier texture.
I am sending this to Ramya's Chutney Mania.

Now it's time to thank my friends -

Dibs gave me the following awards : Hardworking blogger, Kreative Blogger, Great Buddy Award, Butterfly (coolest blog) Award, Inspiration Award, Chocoholic Bear, Perfect Blend of Friendship, 360 degree foodie, good job.

Hema gave me the following : A perfect blend of friendship, yum yum blog award, hardworking blogger award, Great buddy award, Kreative blogger award

Shama gave me the following : Perfect blend of friendship, Kreative blogger and great buddy awards.

I have passed these already, but i wanted to mention it here and express how happy it made me. Thank you Dibs, Hema and Shama. You all made my day. I feel very honored to get these from all of you.

Parupu thogayal and kara kozumbu is my favorite combination. In India, sometimes my mother and I used to have this yummy combination for dinner when my dad is away on trips....
