I saw this recipe in monsoonspice.com. It was too tempting even though i am not fond of mushrooms. It came out well, but I am going to try this with eggplant as i like eggplants much better than mushrooms. It was really spicy even after i reduced some amount of spice.
Here is how i prepared it :
1 pack mushrooms - sliced
peppercorns (according to taste)
salt (acc. to taste)
channadaal - 2 spoons
tamarind paste 1/2 spoon (approx)
Saute channadaal, peppercorns and redchillies in little oil and dry grind it to powder.
In little oil, pop mustard seeds and add hing and urad daal and saute till it's golden brown.
Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for a while and then add the spice powder, salt and 1/2 spoon tamarind paste and cook till done.
