I had borderline GD with my first pregnancy and my doctor sent me to a very strict dietician. I'm saying very strict because she put me on strict diet and made me monitor my sugar 4 times a day inspite of it being just borderline. My mom was really upset with her and I think because of her i didn't gain much weight :-) My dietician's mantra was to increase the protein intake. Even otherwise, 2 things that a pregnant woman will hear all the time, are 'Protein' and 'Iron' :-) Protein helps in the development of new cells. And remember that Vitamin C helps in absorption of iron. Citrus fruits, vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, capsicum, tomatos etc are rich in Vitamin C. These vegetables should be included along with green leafy vegetables. I think i will stop boring you now with details :-)
Here are my entries :

Potatos with skin is rich in iron too.
I wish i had found the shan masala when i was pregnant. Broccoli is one thing that i couldn't take at all. Broccoli is rich in vitamin A and , calcium and folic acid. This curry tastes yummy with the shan masala.
